This is Rose

This is Poe

This is Rey

This is Finn

They are a comrades, they are friends, it might not have been planned originally, and Rey and Finn are the co-protagonist of the story, while Poe is the deuteragonist and Rose is now the Tritagonist, but they all equally important and valid. They provide something for Star Wars and fiction in general that is very important, representation matters.

Heroes come in all shades, sizes, genders, from different backgrounds with different skills, and they all equally inspire fans. Regardless if Disney Star Wars always handles things correctly, these characters mean something to a lot of people, especially people who grew up not having heroes to look up to because they couldn’t relate to them, or because people told them they couldn’t be heroes, because they didn’t look like the way heroes did.

John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and Loan Tran have all had to face adversity, sexism, racism, and through all of that, they refused to be intimidated, they refused to quit, and regardless of the varying opinions we might all have for Star Wars, these actors have done a damn good job and should be celebrated.
